Dean of Students

Veritas Press is a Christian organization dedicated to providing the best classical Christian education materials and services anywhere. We are in need of a Dean of Students that can assist our Headmaster with all student-related aspects of Veritas Scholars Academy.


This is a full-time, Lancaster-based position that supports the headmaster in all student-related aspects of VSA, including its full-time “Diploma” program.

Some Responsibilities:

Community and Engagement

  1. Builds a strong sense of community among families and students.
    1. Possesses an astute awareness of the challenges of online school culture, and builds online venues for community engagement.
    2. Builds local, on-the-ground communities among VSA families throughout the U.S. and internationally.
  2. Causes student and parent engagement in social media to advance the school’s sense of community.
  3. Leads Student Connections and Student Moderators in their development of the VSA community.
  4. Grows the VSA alumni network.
  5. Develops and implements parent seminars.
  6. Oversees the production process of the VSA Yearbook. Assigns responsibility to the yearbook coordinator, interacts with yearbook committee, ensures yearbook publisher is paid.


  1. Processes and tracks standardized testing results (CTP, SAT, ACT).
  2. Executes and continuously improves the Educational Accommodations process, including all documentation.
  3. Oversees the Highest Honors process:
    1. elects candidates
    2. Reviews submissions
    3. Submits recommendations to the headmaster
  4. Actively monitors data pertaining to student retention and acts to influence it by effectively communicating goals and supporting advisors in their efforts.
  5. Monitors student performance (e.g., Save Your Grade), including longitudinal data, and communicates concerns to advisors and teachers. Shares performance results with Dean of Academics and Headmaster on a quarterly basis.
  6. Provides college guidance research as needed to build VSA’s awareness of college acceptance requirements and other relevant information.
  7. Participates in teacher meetings as an administrative representative when requested by the headmaster. 
  8. Conducts teacher certification meetings when requested. 

Disciplinary Oversight

  1. Contacts parents about disciplinary issues requiring administrative intervention and diplomacy.
  2. Effectively uses,  ensures completion, and maintains documentation of Disciplinary Action Forms.

End-of-Year Gathering, Graduation

  1. Plans, executes, and continuously improves all student-related events at End of Year Gathering, including Graduation.
  2. Interprets Graduation requirements and holds Advisors accountable in their execution of course planning and fulfillment.

Student Government and Support

  1. Assigns Student Mentors to new full-time students. Monitors and coaches the effectiveness of these relationships.
  2. Leads and manages Student Government activities – elections, quarterly meetings, etc. 

Student Travel

  1. Gathers information, plans, executes, and continuously improves  Academic trips. 
  2. Gathers information, plans, executes, and continuously improves Mission trips.

Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Conversant with and supportive of the Reformed faith and classical Christian education
  2. Skilled in effective, winsome communication via phone and email
  3. Is energized by interactions with students and families
  4. Works diligently day to day under direct and indirect supervision
  5. Three years’ experience in an educational environment as an administrator
  6. Minimum two years’ experience as a teacher

 Physical Demands:

  1. Standing, walking and sitting for long periods of time
  2. Extensive typing on QWERTY style keyboard
  3. Extensive viewing of lighted computer monitor
  4. Speaking and hearing
  5. Reaching and bending
  6. Lifting up to 25 lbs
  7. Using hands to perform tasks
  8. Working in standard office conditions with and near electronics


 A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required. An advanced degree is desirable.
